About the client

Fairfield Residential Care Home in North Oxford, commissioned the design of a new purpose-built care home, situated in the grounds of the original home, a Victorian villa. With the newly commissioned building, residents would be relocating from the existing period home to a new, modern home. The interior design scheme needed to make that transition reassuring, and a specialist design practice were needed to introduce a contemporary, warm and welcoming environment for residents, visitors and staff alike.

About the project

HomeSmiths were appointed and quickly developed a beautiful, unique design scheme to enhance the light and architecture whilst keeping in mind the needs of the residents within their new home. HomeSmiths issued Bespoke By Evans’ bespoke fabric design and print service to help create their botanical theme and used a palette that’s easy to live with, echoes a natural green garden setting and connects with familiar resident pieces from the old home.

Interior Design Features

Across the home, many different aesthetic environments were developed to enable residents to experience a variety of activities and experiences. The dominating colours of green, burnt orange and warm neutrals allowed light to travel through the home. Working collaboratively with HomeSmiths, Bespoke by Evans’ were able to add to the scheme with uniquely designed contract fabrics, printed on properties to match their exact specification.

A particular element that married up the botanical theme within the home was a fern leaf design – meticulously hand painted by the Bespoke by Evans team. Produced in watercolour and printed on durable upholstery fabric, the design created comfortable, stylish and ‘fit for purpose’ seating. HomeSmiths wanted to create the look of a peaceful Oxfordshire hotel with the soft contrast of the fern design on the back of the chairs which connected with the botanical theme and made the lounge less institutional and more homely.

The outcome

The designs created were fantastic and really fulfilled our brief. We’re finding that more and more clients are looking for something unique that not only enhances their home, but connects with residents - so the bespoke design and print services are a perfect way to deliver this. I would strongly recommend Bespoke by Evans to anyone looking for something truly special in interior design, whether a stunning focal point or something subtler, the possibilities are endless. The services provided are always professional throughout a project, and I have had so many positive comments about the artwork and fabrics.
